Pond Maintenance

Pond maintenance is not only something you do during the summer, it can be year round as well. Pond and water features that run in the fall and winter need to be maintained and cleaned regularly due to fallen leaves and other outside elements. Fall and winter are a good time to start pruning the plants, reduce the amount or type of food the fish eat.

One way to help reduce the amount of leaves and debris that enter into the pond, is adding a net over the pond during the winter months. During the fall it's a good idea to check your skimmer box and falls for leaves and debris.

Depending on where you live, it might be best to remove the pond plants to ensure they make it through the winter.
